We have removed Swiss payphone locations due to quality issues!
News release
January 3, 2026 — The PayFoneMap Team has announced a strategic update to the platform’s global mapping directory. The Switzerland region has been officially decommissioned and removed from all active listings.
While PayFoneMap remains committed to documenting the world’s remaining analog infrastructure, this decision follows an internal review of international data sets. The Switzerland locations were part of a preliminary project phase that was never fully released to the public or verified by field contributors.
“Our mission is to provide the community with an accurate, reliable ‘analog social network’,” said the PayFoneMap Team. “By removing unreleased or incomplete data sets, we are ensuring that our map remains a high-quality resource that users can trust when they are out in the field.”
This change allows the team to focus mapping resources on territories with high verification rates and active community engagement, including:
The Canadian Network: Continued deep-documentation of provincial hardware from coast to coast.
The United States & International: Expanding verified directories in Japan, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
Modern Telephony Projects: Maintaining active support for PhilTel, Futel, and RandTel free-to-use services.
The PayFoneMap Team thanks its contributors for their ongoing dedication to preserving telecommunications history. Users in active regions are encouraged to continue submitting photos and status updates via the site's reporting tools.
