Removal of PR payphone locations

On January 22, 2026, PayFoneMap removed all public phone booth locations in Puerto Rico from its publicly accessible map following a review of data quality. The review found that the listings for Puerto Rico did not consistently meet the platform’s standards for accuracy, verification, and reliability. To uphold the overall integrity of the mapping database, the decision was made to remove the entire Puerto Rico dataset rather than attempt individual corrections.  

There is currently no confirmed timeline for restoring updated phone booth locations in Puerto Rico, and it is assumed that Puerto Rico will remain absent from active listings for the foreseeable future. In recent years, the public payphone network in Puerto Rico has declined significantly, with most traditional booths disappearing as cellular coverage and mobile phone use became widespread. Privately operated phone booths that still exist are limited and continue to decrease in number.
