Removal of Swiss payphone locations

On January 4, 2026, PayFoneMap removed all Swiss payphone locations from public view following a data quality review. The review concluded that the available listings for Switzerland did not consistently meet the platform’s standards for accuracy, verification, and reliability. To maintain the overall integrity of the mapping database, the decision was made to withdraw the entire Swiss dataset rather than selectively modifying individual entries.

There is no confirmed timeline for reintroducing updated Swiss payphone locations, and it is currently assumed that Switzerland will remain permanently removed from active listings. In 2018, the Swiss payphone incumbent (Swisscom) was no longer obligated to maintain their payphone network, and the country's last public booth was removed on November 28, 2019. Phone booths that are privately operated still exist in certain areas, though their counts are decreasing.
